One Starry Night Work Days
The first OSN work day will be this Sunday, November 26th after church. We’ll have chicken noodle soup and chili and then head outside. This will be the day we do all of the outside work so come prepared for that!  The big OSN work nights are Tuesday, December 5th and Thursday December 7th. We will provide pizza at 5:30pm for supper and be laying the cardboard and decorating the marketplace and indoor scene rooms. And then on Saturday, December 9th, we will provide sub sandwiches while we finish up building Bethlehem after church. And don’t forget to mark your calendar for tear-down day from 9am-Noon (hopefully) on Saturday, December 16th! We need all hands on deck to help with this huge event!

Agape Baby Clothing Drive
Our outreach focus for December will be a baby clothing drive to be donated to the Agape Pregnancy Center in Des Moines. Agape offers free prenatal support to anyone, and they especially reach young women to give them more education, medical care, and support. You can bring *new* baby clothes to the church and lay them in the manger in the narthex starting the first week of Advent, December 3rd. Currently, they are especially in need of: Sleepers (all sizes), Warm winter outfits, especially those with jackets/sweatshirts (all sizes), and Onesies (6-9m and 9-12m).

Celebrate the Season
Breakfast with Santa
is Saturday, December 2nd from 8-10:30am. Families can come enjoy sausage and pancakes, get their photo taken with Santa, have storytime, and do a craft! Invite your neighbors to come with you!
Advent by Candlelight is Sunday, December 3rd at 7pm. This is a time for women to come relax, recharge, and rejoice as we focus on the reason for the season… and enjoy yummy desserts! RSVP to Michelle in the office.
Musical Merry Christmas is Wednesday, December 6th at 6:30pm. We like to think of this as our family Christmas party. Get your act together and sign up on Josh’s door! Come enjoy a variety show with your church family.
December 24th – one worship service at 9:30am
Christmas Eve Worship Services at 5 & 11pm

Meals From the Heartland
The church staff has registered to package meals on Wednesday, December 20th from 9:30-11:30am for their Christmas packaging event. We’d love it if you could join us. Click here to register yourself. Even if you can’t make it the same time, we encourage you to volunteer to package and send donations to feed the hungry during the Advent season.
Mark you calendars: February 3rd will the Grimes Hunger Fight here!

Kitchen Help

Miss Janet is looking for some helpers in the GUMC kitchen on Wednesday afternoon/evenings. No cooking, just helping get things ready for supper. Contact Michelle in the office or Janet Rice for more information.

Grief Share Ministry
For those of you who are dealing with the loss of a loved one, we are offering a Grief Share class this fall. We would love for you to participate and let us help you on your journey from mourning to joy. Grief Share meets on Wednesdays at 6:15pm in the library.

The InBetweeners

Megan Grove and Laura Austin have started a group for young adults. They meet in the Family Room on Sundays at 6pm. If you are too old for the youth group, but don’t feel ready to take an adult study, or just want to connect and grow your faith alongside other young adults, this is for you!
